Bums of Banff

Living in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies I’ve been lucky to see a wide variety of local wildlife. Upon arriving in Banff in 2019 I happened across a white-tailed deer calmly walking away from me down the middle of the street! It’s bushy white tail looked so cute as it walked and I was struck by the idea for this series ‘Bums of Banff’ depicting popular Banff wildlife from behind.

Desktop Zoo

In early 2016 I was sitting at my desk wondering how I could next procrastinate from my impending university deadlines. I began imagining miniaturised animals roaming my desktop, leading to this series with wildlife put into perspective by an accompanying desktop item. I begin these pieces with an ink pen sketch, finishing with a touch of watercolour to add vibrancy.
